Villa Medici, built in the 16 century,  once belonged to the Medici family of Florence and was used as one of 12 hunting lodges by the Grand Duke of Tuscany  and grandson of Lorenzo de’Medici (known as Il Magnifico). It is built on a hill and set amongst olive groves and vineyards and overlooks  the valley below. This elegant, historic villa retains its original architectural beauty and charm.  The villa is located in an area now known as the “hills of Leonardo da Vinci” because Leonardo used to walk the area studying the Arno river and doing drawings. One of the original paths has now been restored and is accessible to guests at the villa, so that you can walk in the steps of Leonardo.  The Villa was bought by a noble family more than 200 years ago and still remains in the family today.
The villa is in a perfect location to explore Vinci , the birth place of the genius Leonardo, but also within easy reach of Florence (50km) and Lucca (38km). Locally you can enjoy several local spas, golf as well as many other activities. The Tuscan coast is also an easy day trip.

The villa features original furniture, paintings and includes fabulous, Venetian glass chandeliers, Persian carpets. There are multiple elegant reception rooms and an amazing library and even an arms room.
The Villa has 6 bedrooms all with en suite bathrooms . All bathrooms have been recently renewed.

Living Areas
The main living room (150 sq mts) is located on the first floor and it is a masterpiece of art and decoration and features  sofas, beautiful statues, paintings and an impressive original fireplace. There are two smaller living rooms, often used as TV rooms, also located in the first floor.

BEDROOMS

Red Royal Room
This Master en suite bedroom is located on the ground floor and features an original fireplace, as well as a Smart TV, air conditioning, wardrobes, chairs and antique furniture, including an original decorated red bed, a pure artwork. The bathroom, which is completely renovated, features a large shower.

Royal Navy Room
This Master en suite bedroom is located on the ground floor and is over 40 sq mts. It has a Smart TV, air conditioning, wardrobes, chairs and antique furniture, including an original navy chandelier. The spacious bathroom is on two different levels and features a large bathtub.

Green Royal Room
This Master en suite bedroom is located on the first level and is over 40 sq mts. It has a Smart TV, air conditioning, wardrobes, chairs and antique furniture, including the green and golf masterpiece as it’s the canopy bed. The bathroom features an elegant tub.

Golden Royal Room
This Master en suite bedroom is located on the first floor and is over 45 sq mts. It has a Smart TV, air conditioning, wardrobes, chairs and antique furniture, including mirrors, tents and a wonderful canopy bed, making this one of the most beautiful rooms in the Villa. The bathroom, which is fully renovated, features a comfortable new shower.

Blue Room
The Blue Room features twin beds with American style mattresses, (can be made a double). The bathroom is fully renovated and features a shower.

Panorama Room
The Panorama Room has an incredible window with original stone benches on each the side and features twin beds (can be made a double). The bathroom is fully renovated and features a super spacious shower.

SPECIAL AREAS

The Villa was built almost 500 years ago, and even though it has been renovated and modernised many times throughout the years,  it still retains its original charm and character. These original features make some areas of the villa very “special”; such as the billiard room, the original Renaissance family Chapel, the Hunting room and the armoury corridor which has impressive ironwork on display.  

Library
Located on the first floor, right after the main living room, there is an original library with books from past centuries and Renaissance or Rococo decorations. Some of the books can be used by guests and are displayed on the central gold table.

Dining Room
Although during spring and summer, guests love to have the majority of the snacks and meals outside in the “al fresco” garden or by the pool, the Villa has an impressive indoor dining room that seats up to 20. All the precious table cloths, silver cutlery and fine porcelains in the villa are part of the private family collection and are used for guests.

OUTDOORS

The property has an automatic gated entrance and the villa grounds are completely fenced. Directly in front of the Villa there is a panoramic “alfresco” area with stone and marble tables and chairs. This area overlooks the swimming pool and has stunning panoramic views. It is surrounded by century-old lemon trees and flower bushes from all over the world.
A monumental staircase leads to a very large swimming pool (18 x 7mts) and an elevated sun-bathing area. There is also a pool house with a changing area with a fridge and games room for kids. There are tables and chairs for snacks and reading by the pool. The villa grounds are completely fenced and there is an automatic gated entrance.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES

These include walking and trekking along the many local footpaths including Leonardino (in the footsteps of Leonardo) that runs past the villa. GPX tracks are available and the walks start from a very easy level upwards. For kids there is a water park, Pinocchio park, Pistoia zoo as well as some interactive museums. For adults there is paragliding, cave diving as well as bird watching and boat trips on the local marshes
